7 AIRE Demonstration projects are launched in cooperation between industrial companies and researchers
In mid-December, the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Center AIRE (AI&Robotics Estonia) selected seven demo projects, the aim of which is to help industrial companies implement artificial intelligence-based solutions to increase the automation of companies.
As a result of the evaluation, the AIRE steering committee approved seven projects that can be started as early as January 2023:
- Chemi-Pharm AS “AI based management system development for production logistics in the company” in cooperation with TalTech
- COCO Corporation OÜ “Smart Robot for flexible assembly of electrical devices” in cooperation with IMECC
- Krah Pipes OÜ “Proactive feedback system for manufacturing settings evaluation” in cooperation with TalTech
- Mindchip OÜ “Artificial captain algorithms and sensor fusion” in cooperation with TalTech
- Tiksoja Puidugurp AS (1) “Expert solution for route creation” in cooperation with EEC and UT
- Tiksoja Puidugurp OÜ (2) “AI solution for order planning” in cooperation with EEC and UT
- Yanu OÜ “Yanu service robot” in cooperation with UT
The aim of the idea round, which was opened at the beginning of November, is to help increase the competitiveness of the Estonian manufacturing industry through demo projects. Among other things, demo projects also help to encourage companies to collaborate with universities.
We are happy to note that among the demo projects there are several capable Estonian companies in cooperation with three Estonian universities – Tallinn University of Technology, University of Tartu and Estonian University of Life Sciences, notes Kirke Maar, head of AIRE. Applications submitted at the end of November were first reviewed by artificial intelligence experts who assessed the technical ambition of the desired solutions. Afterwards, the company was also able to meet with the AIRE advisory board, present its project idea to them, and receive feedback and recommendations. The idea round remains open and we are currently waiting for applications. Applications are evaluated three to four times a year, depending on the number of applications received.
