AIRE Center Gains Presidential Attention
President Alar Karis visited TalTech’s IT faculty on September 10th to learn about the opportunities arising from artificial intelligence use in education and business. IT faculty dean Gert Jervan explained that artificial intelligence is not merely an IT topic at the university, but an interdisciplinary subject used in both teaching and research work.
AIRE center director Kirke Maar introduced President Alar Karis to the AIRE center and its activities. Dozens of Estonian industrial companies have piloted artificial intelligence solutions for business creation and growth in cooperation with the AIRE center.
According to Kirke Maar, Estonian industrial companies can use artificial intelligence in diverse ways. “Currently, AI-based language models are better known, but less known is that artificial intelligence can be used to organize production, its control, and quality control. AI implementation in these areas increases companies’ both productivity and profit. We already have such experiences,” said Maar.
The AIRE center currently has 270 clients, 61 clients have participated in testing, and over 100 companies have been consulted.
Alar Karis visited schools and companies in Tallinn and Tartu on September 9-10 to gain a better overview of artificial intelligence potential in education and business.
