How to Improve Production Process Efficiency with a Virtual Factory?
In late October, many interresting AIRE demonstration projects took flight, including Trimtex Baltic OÜ, a leading sports apparel manufacturer, and MindChip, a developer of autonomous vessels and artificial captain.
Through collaboration between companies and researchers, these projects aim to address business challenges using robotics and artificial intelligence solutions.
MindChip OÜ collaboration with Tallinn University of Technology researchers: “Artificial intelligence-based navigation algorithms for autonomous robotic vessels.” Project Manager: Karl Janson, TalTech.
Trimtex Baltic OÜ collaboration with IMECC and TalTech researchers:”Productivity Analysis and Production Optimization in the Company.” Project Manager: Tõnu Lelumees, IMECC.
MindChip’s new project can be seen as an extension of their previous demonstration project, where essential features for the artificial captain are developed, such as object mapping and finding optimal sea trajectories. Particularly crucial are the new possibilities for navigation in harbor territories, where there is limited space for avoiding obstacles.
During the demonstration project, Trimtex aims to streamline its production processes, potentially increasing production efficiency by up to 15%. Within Trimtex’s project, a virtual factory is being created. Artificial intelligence helps plan potential bottlenecks in physical production based on data obtained from the virtual factory, proactively addressing them. Additionally, data analysis and decision-making leverage Dimusa software developed at TalTech.
Expert advice for project implementation was provided to companies by AIRE´s advisory board members: Andres Sutt, Jaan Puusaag, Sirli Männiksaar, and Andri Haran from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
