MindChip is an innovative deep-technology company developing a modular Artificial Captain (AC) to enable ships to navigate autonomously. This device can be installed on new and existing vessels, expanding its applications in various maritime domains. The Artificial Captain will find its main use in autonomous robotic vessels aimed at performing a wide range of tasks, such as seabed surveys, for important infrastructure builders, including offshore wind farm developers and ports. Global demand for autonomous vessels is growing as they offer efficiency, reduce labour costs and improve safety. The development of the Articulated Master is therefore a response to the growing need for innovative and efficient maritime solutions. As part of this AIRE project, AI-based object recognition software has been further developed for MindChip. Currently, development work is underway for autonomous navigation of the robot ship in congested port conditions.
