2023: Testing a novel AI based automatic tracking solution in a production company for warehouse goods with cameras on combined and separate lifting platforms

In the current project we validated the efficacy of a video stream–based pallet detection system testing in collaboration with AS Valdek in a realistic production process scenario. We implemented a custom pallet tracking solution based on Mask DINO model published in 2023, that we amended with a filtering solution. We improved the performance of the models to optimize hardware resource requirements, we managed to go from running 4 simultaneous video streams in a single computer to 15. In addition, we compared the results of the video-based tracking with the data from the information system of the company to, on the one hand detect the quality of detections and, on the other hand, detect imperfections of the data represented in the information system. As a result of the project, the system running in the factory of AS Valdek being able to perform real-time detections. The system needs further development by AS Valdek to further filter the detections from video streams in order to use it in production.
