The city of Tartu joined the circle of partners of the artificial intelligence and robotics center AIRE (AI & Robotics Estonia), which offers industrial companies training, consulting and innovative digitalization tailor-made solutions that cannot be found as a ready-made solution on the private market. Being a partner of AIRE contributes to the goals of the city of Tartu in the field of smart industry and actively participates in the creation of a business environment that supports digitalization.
AIRE brings together customers and service providers, which can be, for example, creators of artificial intelligence solutions, developers and suppliers of robotic systems, and developers of digitization strategies in the private sector. In addition, the center helps assess the digital maturity of companies and offers the opportunity to test solutions, technology and software before making large investments. The aim of the center is to increase the competitiveness of Estonian industrial companies in foreign markets.
“We would like to support the industrial companies of the Tartu region in many ways in adopting solutions based on artificial intelligence and robotics. Thanks to the services offered and the extensive cooperation network, the AIRE center makes it significantly easier for entrepreneurs to reach suitable solutions. Digitization, in addition to other benefits, helps to reach jobs that create greater added value and are paid more highly, which is a desirable direction of development from the point of view of the city,” said Deputy Mayor Raimond Tamm.
An important goal is to help companies find additional funding for the implementation of artificial intelligence and robotics development projects (from structural grants, recovery fund, Horizon program, DEP or Digital Europe program and elsewhere). The leader of the center is Tallinn University of Technology, the partners are the University of Tartu, the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the science and business campus Tehnopol, the Tartu Science Park, the Technological Development Center for Innovative Mechanical Engineering Production Systems (IMECC OÜ) and the city of Tartu. Professional associations, clusters, chambers of commerce, telecommunication companies, robot system developers, banks, robot importers and others are involved as cooperation partners.
Artificial intelligence and robotics service center AIRE is the Estonian link in the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH). The preparation and launch of the Estonian center will be supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications from June 1, 2021.
