2023: Testing novel AI based expert solution for route creation

The aim of the project was to optimise the production process making it faster and more effective. During the Business Analysis process, it was found that the Make Cycle Time was the most affected part of the process, which can be reduced. As a result of the analysis, we found that the indicative planning carried out by the sales department creates the most problems, as it does not consider real production resources, making subsequent detailed planning suboptimal. An AI solution, that along with a new product design workflow and methods enables more precise and improved planning through automation of pre-production activities and machine learning techniques was proposed. The solution consists of algorithms and an AI component, which contribute to production preparation activities. The output of the algorithms comprises all feasible routes for manufacturing a product within the factory. For instance, various drilling benches can be used to create holes, depending on the equipment capabilities and the details of the product (such as material, dimensions, subsequent operations, required quality). The output of the algorithm is necessary for calculating normative times in the following module and for creating a production plan. Developed solution, makes production more efficient through alternative routes, avoiding the need to use the same workstation simultaneously and refines the production plan through automatic route creation.
